Crane Viewing Blind Tour
A trained guide will accompany you to one of our viewing blinds along the banks of the Platte River. Blind tours are offered in the early morning- when the cranes roost on the river before leaving to feed- and evening, when the birds arrive on the river for the night. This is as close as you'll get to the cranes. Each blind tour lasts a maximum of three hours, including an introductory presentation. Participants will need to be able to walk about ten minutes over uneven terrain under cover of darkness to access the blind. (No leaving the blind early so as not to disturb the birds.)
Viewing blind tours are not for children under 12.
Cost: $25.00/Person (+ Tax)

Private Photo/Viewing Blinds—Overnight
These select blinds are positioned and designed for the serious nature enthusiast
seeking the ultimate viewing and photo experience on the Platte River. Our photo/
viewing blinds are not everyone. Because the blinds are placed in very close
proximity to sandhill crane roosts on the river, you are required to spend the night
in the blind, so you'll need to be prepared. Your guide will drop you off at 5 p.m. and
pick you up the next morning after 9:00 a.m. What you give up in creature comforts,
you'll more than make up for in spectacular evening and morning views. Maximum Occupancy: 2 people.
Cost: $175 Per Blind Per Night (+ tax). Call for details and to make reservations: (308) 382-1820.
Step-On Guided Bus Tours
Our step-on guided bus tours put you in touch with one of the world's greatest bird
migrations. You'll start with a 30-minute orientation presentation
here at the center on crane behavior, habitat and biology, tailored
to the age of your group. We'll then join you on your bus and direct your driver
to crane viewing hotspots nearby, providing expert commentary and interesting
insights along the way. After an hour of viewing, we'll return to the nature and
visitor center where you'll be free to hike our trails and browse the gift shop, art
gallery and displays. Tours available 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., Monday-Friday,
March 2-April 5.
